This week I was almost convinced I'd died and gone to heaven!Steph and the girls took me to the oldest wildflower garden in the United States, established in 1907 --just ten minutes west of downtown Minneapolis. It is a fifteen acre garden filled with woodland, wetland, and prairie flowers, trees, shrubs, and grasses.
There are trails throughout with plenty of benches for resting and enjoying the scenery. The paths were quite manageable for the little girls with lots of plants for them to see and learn about.
This little chipmunk was visiting a rock under one of the bird feeders at the shelter/office.
This picture of the lily pad, one of my favorite pics of the day, was taken at a beach in a different area of the park.
Not only did we enjoy the walk through the park on Thursday, but then on Friday I was able to return for a Wildflower Photography class. That was truly a bonus. These are some of my pictures from that excursion. I hope to visit one more time this summer to study birds. (Hint, Steph.)
I could certainly bore you with many more pictures, but these will suffice for today. I have a long summer of nature pictures ahead of me, so I don't want to lose you too early in the season. But . . . Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Garden, I can't wait! Have a great day!
